Walking with the Persecuted Faithful: ChinaAid’s Latest Updates

Dear ,

Join us as we walk with the persecuted faithful. A dozen human rights lawyers courageously file a complaint against Beihai police, a pastor sentenced to 13 months for removing government-imposed surveillance cameras at the church entrance, and a pastor released after a decade in prison after refusing to remove a cross. Bob Fu exposes CCP persecution at a crucial hearing with the Congressional-Executive Commission on China (CECC).

Lead Story: Heart Attack Ignored: Police Abuse in Church Raid Sparks Rare Legal Uprising

In a bold stand against China's escalating persecution of house churches, over a dozen prominent human rights lawyers—many disbarred after the 709 Crackdown—joined family members to file a collective complaint in Beihai, Guangxi, on November 6-7, 2025. They accused Beihai police of illegal actions during the October 10 arrest of Zion Church Pastor Sun Cong in Beijing, including failing to show identification, post-entry search warrants, delayed detention notices, and shoving his elderly mother, who suffered a heart attack without aid.

This rare action highlights the broader "Zion Church 109 Case," part of a nationwide sweep detaining nearly 30 church leaders, amid fears of systematic religious suppression. Families, including breastfeeding mothers and traumatized children, prayed together outside the procuratorates while staff reluctantly accepted the complaint documents.

Story #2: China's 'Fraud' Facade: 71-Year-Old Pastor Re-Jailed in Faith Persecution!

In a renewed crackdown on religious freedom, three leaders of Xi’an’s Church of Abundance—Pastors Lian Changnian (71), Lian Xuliang, and Sister Fu Juan—were re-arrested on November 2, 2025, by Xi’an authorities on fraud charges. Previously detained in August 2022 for over two years, they were bailed in April 2025 after a July trial yielded no verdict.

The 30-year-old house church, banned as an “illegal organization,” faces systematic suppression via “fraud” allegations tied to voluntary tithes. Key witness Qin Wen denies harm, claims coercion, and endured 12-day detention for preaching to minors, losing her kindergarten job. ChinaAid urges U.S. intervention under President Trump to halt this abuse of law against unregistered Christians.

Story #3: White Hair, Lost Mother: The True Cost of China's Religious Crackdown

Pastor Xing Wenxiang, former leader of Jinhua City Christian Church in Zhejiang, was released on November 7, 2025, after nearly a decade in prison. Sentenced in 2016 to 12 years for “embezzlement” and related charges, her term was reduced by two years.

The ordeal stemmed from her church's 2015 refusal to remove a cross during Zhejiang's forced demolition campaign, despite legal permits. Detained with her husband, Pastor Bao Guohua—who remains imprisoned—and others, the case highlighted religious repression. Returning with white hair from black, Xing mourned her mother's death at her grave, denied a funeral visit. This underscores ongoing human rights abuses in Chinese prisons.

Story #4: Spy Cams in Sanctuaries: Anhui Church Leaders Imprisoned for Resistance

In a stark blow to religious freedom, Pastor Zhao Hongliang of Huainan Covenant Church in Anhui Province, China, was sentenced to one year and one month in prison on November 6, 2025, for "intentional destruction of property." The charges arose after church members removed government-imposed surveillance cameras at the church entrance, defying mandates for monitoring religious sites.

Fellow believers Shang Lei received one year, Xu Yongshui served six months, and Xu Kehong got four months of detention with a five-month suspension. This registered church has long resisted policies like cross removals and barring minors from services. The case, following a May 2025 raid that detained nine, underscores the CCP's intensifying control over faith communities.

Story #5: CCP's Ruthless War: How China is Erasing Faith and Threatening America

The Congressional-Executive Commission on China (CECC) is set to host a pivotal hearing on November 20, 2025, titled “China’s War on Religion: The Threat to Religious Freedom and Why It Matters to the United States.” Witnesses, including former U.S. Ambassador Sam Brownback, ChinaAid Founder Bob Fu, Hui Muslim advocate Ma Ju, Grace Jin Drexel (daughter of imprisoned Pastor Ezra Jin), and ICT's Bhuchung Tsering, will expose escalating CCP persecution.

Fu's testimony highlights the criminalization of Christian practices, targeting of youth, imprisonment of leaders like Gao Zhisheng and Wang Yi, and transnational repression reaching U.S. soil. The event urges sanctions and diplomatic action to combat this assault on faith.

Urgent Prayer for China’s Persecuted Christians
  • Father, we pray for strategic heavenly wisdom for the dozen lawyers who filed the complaint in Beihai. You are a righteous judge; we ask these earthly judges would also rule justly.
  • Lord, we pray for courage and strength for Pastor Zhao Hongliang. We pray the church family of Huainan Covenant Church would not be dismayed. We pray their faith would not only remain but grow.
  • Father, you weep with those who weep; our hearts break for Pastor Xing Wenxiang. Her physical appearance is a tragic testimony to the cruelty she endured. We pray for supernatural healing from trauma and we pray her spirits would not be broken.
  • Lord, we cry out to you on behalf of unjustly detained leaders of Xi’an’s Church of Abundance. We cry for mercy. We cry for justice. We cry for righteousness.
  • Father, we bless the CECC hearing happening now. Your Word says in James 4:17, “If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.” We pray those who have the power to hold China accountable would do so.
