Lead Story:Release from Prison Doesn't Mean Freedom: Chinese Human Rights Activist Xu Qin's Constant Surveillance and Isolation
Chinese human rights activist Xu Qin, 60, was released from prison on July 11, 2025, after serving four years for "inciting subversion of state power" due to her support for detained lawyers and dissidents. However, freedom remains elusive: she's under constant 24-hour surveillance in Gaoyou, Jiangsu Province, with checkpoints around her home and rotating government-funded guards.
Isolated from neighbors and family, her pension has been suspended, and she's barred from media contact. Xu, a former "Rose Team" member and 2022 Lin Zhao Freedom Award winner, describes it as "more painful than prison," refusing illegal demands and vowing to defend her rights amid extralegal repression.

In a bold challenge to China's religious crackdown, detained Pastor Chang Shun’s letter from prison reverberates globally: leaked on October 1, 2025. Arrested during a June 2024 worship raid in Anhui, Chang rejects state-mandated "Sinicization" of faith, refusing to join the official Three-Self church.
His 1,000-word reflection critiques the idolization of "spiritual heroes" in persecuted communities, urging believers to focus on God's mercy over personal suffering. Comparing his plight to biblical prophet Jeremiah, Chang emphasizes eternal hope amid earthly trials. This case highlights Xi Jinping's systematic suppression of independent Christians, often on fabricated charges like fraud.

Story #3: Utilities Cut for Housing a Persecuted Brother – The Price of Kindness in China
Chengdu, Sichuan – October 7, 2025: Early Rain Covenant Church member Liu Xingfeng endured repeated utility shutoffs after renting her Longtan Temple apartment to persecuted deacon Jia Xuewei. Since the 2018 December 9 crackdown, Jia has faced detentions, beatings, and evictions by authorities pressuring landlords.
Despite risks, Liu's compassionate act led to water and electricity cuts at her Wenjiang home on April 21 and September 22. Services were restored after negotiations, but the incident underscores ongoing religious repression. The church calls for global prayers to protect Liu's family from further interference.

In a stark violation of China's Constitution, Tianjin Mechanical and Electrical Vocational College is mandating that all students declare "no religious belief" in their personal information via a mobile app installation guide. This coercive rule, which emphasizes distinguishing ethnic customs from religious beliefs, forces students into atheism, overriding their right to choose.
Article 36 guarantees freedom of belief, yet under Xi Jinping's regime, the CCP intensifies suppression, banning minors from religious activities and prohibiting campus missionary work. ChinaAid highlights this as another example of systemic human rights abuse in education, exposing the chasm between legal protections and harsh reality.
Imagine you're that student, compelled to erase your faith just to learn. Join the fight. Defend liberty. Share their story now!

Story #5: Chinese Government Detains Wenzhou Nuns, Charges Pilgrimage as “Illegal Border Crossing"
In a stark escalation of religious persecution, Chinese authorities have detained 40-year-old nun Xiang Qiaoyun for over three months, charging her with "organizing illegal border crossings" after leading a legal pilgrimage to Catholic sites in Europe. Despite obtaining valid Schengen visas, the trip was criminalized for its undeclared religious purpose, exposing Beijing's weaponization of faith under Xi Jinping.
Xiang remains in solitary confinement, facing up to life imprisonment, while her group members were arrested upon return. This case underscores Wenzhou's role as a repression hotspot for underground Christians, amid hollow Sino-Vatican accords and broader crackdowns on independent worship.
Imagine leading a simple pilgrimage, only to face life in prison – that's Sister Xiang's reality. Join her fight for freedom; stand with persecuted believers.

Urgent Prayer for China’s Persecuted Christians
Father, strengthen Xu Qin. You are the great comforter, You are near to the broken-hearted, You said You would not leave us as orphans. Father, we pray that Xu Qin would not feel isolated and alone. We pray she would find strength in You and You alone.
Father, we thank you for Pastor Chang Shun’s legacy and his vital words of encouragement to the underground church in China. Continue to encourage him minute by minute that his strength and confidence in You would not fade but flourish.
Father, we pray for Liu Xingfeng and Jia Xuewei. We pray blessings on these persecuted brothers and sisters. Your Word declares “Blessed are those who have been persecuted… theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5)
Father, we pray for all students in China facing religious persecution and isolation for their faith. Give them wisdom, courage, and strength. May their faith not weaken but continue to grow more resilient and trusting in You.
Father, encourage our dear sister Xiang Qiaoyun. That she would know You are near to her. That she would remain like a tree planted near Your living water! (Psalm 1)
