Imagine clutching a Bible, only to face prison for sharing it, like Wang Honglan, a 70-year-old grandmother jailed for four years in Inner Mongolia. Picture your church stormed mid-prayer, as Beijing’s Holy Love Fellowship endured, or your hospital bed invaded, like activist Li Yongfeng, seized post-surgery for distributing Bible players. Envision worship under surveillance, with cameras suffocating your faith, as Anhui’s Holy Covenant Church fights back. See your sacred spaces defiled, prayers replaced by propaganda, as China’s “Sinicization” erases belief.

These aren’t just stories—they’re our brothers and sisters, their courage a mirror to our own faith. Will you stand with them? Join ChinaAid to demand justice, amplify their voices, and fight for religious freedom. Act now—call your leaders, share their stories, and pray. Together, we can resist this injustice.

China Sends Grandmother to Prison for Bible Distribution

Imagine holding a Bible in your hands, a simple act of faith. Now picture that choice leading to handcuffs, a courtroom, and four years behind bars. This is the reality for nine Christians in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, who dared to share God’s Word.

Wang Honglan, a 70-year-old grandmother, her family, and others bought legally published Bibles to distribute at low cost, hoping to spread hope. Instead, they were charged with “illegal business operations” in 2021, accused of profiting millions, though their only crime was their faith.

Despite protests from their lawyers, who were denied time to prepare a defense, the court sentenced them to up to four years in prison and fines as high as $136,000. Their story isn’t just theirs—it’s a call to you, to us, to stand for freedom.

Story #2: Religious Activist Seized from Hospital Bed in Cruel Arrest
Picture yourself recovering in a hospital bed, weak from surgery, when police storm in, dragging you away despite your pain. This was Li Yongfeng’s reality on June 26, 2025, in Zhejiang, China. A religious activist, Li was arrested post-surgery, denied medication, and transferred to Pingyang Detention Center.

His health worsens—bleeding wounds, untreated high blood sugar—yet authorities ignore pleas for care. His wife, Du Xiaoxi, quoting Psalm 31:2, begs for justice. Li’s “crime”? Distributing Bible players to grassroots churches. This crackdown on faith reveals China’s disregard for human rights. Stand with Li; demand his right to medical care and freedom.

Story #3: Beijing House Church Stormed in Nightmare Raid

Imagine gathering for a quiet Bible study, your heart open, surrounded by friends and family in rich fellowship. Suddenly, police storm in, demanding IDs, voices rising in a clash of authority and conviction. This was the reality for Beijing’s Holy Love Fellowship on August 22, 2025. Officers disrupted their service, part of a broader crackdown on unregistered churches.

Members, including those with a history of rights activism, faced intimidation, yet stood firm. “You can’t accomplish anything meritorious,” one believer challenged. Founded in 1989, this resilient fellowship endures despite past imprisonments of members like Hu Shigen. China’s constitution promises religious freedom, but surveillance persists. Join us in supporting these courageous believers as they face growing persecution.

Story #4: China Replaces Prayers with Propaganda

Imagine your faith under attack, your place of worship forced to display a dictator’s portrait instead of sacred symbols. That’s the reality in China, where the Communist Party’s “Sinicization” campaign targets Uyghur Muslims and Christians, replacing prayers with propaganda.

Vicky Hartzler, new chair of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, calls this a systematic erasure of belief, with China’s genocide against Uyghurs demanding urgent action. You can help—call your leaders, demand religious freedom be central to U.S. policy. Together, we can fight this injustice. Stay informed, stay engaged.

Story #5: Worship Under Watch: China’s Surveillance on Churches

You’re praying in a church, seeking peace, but cameras loom overhead, recording every word. This is the reality for four Christians—Zhao Hongliang, Shang Lei, Xu Yongshui, and Xu Kehong—at Holy Covenant Church in Anhui, China. On August 29, 2025, they face trial for dismantling surveillance equipment, a bold stand against the government’s invasive control over their faith.

Despite being part of the state-sanctioned Three-Self Movement, their church endures relentless monitoring and pressure. Charged with “property damage,” their case exposes China’s crackdown on religious freedom. Stand with these believers as they challenge oppression, risking everything for their right to worship freely.
