On August 13: Join the World to Demand Answers for Missing Gao Zhisheng

On August 13, 2017, Gao disappeared, and his whereabouts remain unknown eight years later. Before this, he faced multiple arrests, imprisonments, and reports of torture, including beatings and electric shocks. His wife, Geng He, and their 2 children fled out of China to Thailand and were rescued by ChinaAid to the U.S. in 2009 as refugees.

The persecution extended to his family, with his sister denied medical treatment and ultimately taking her own life. Geng He has repeatedly pleaded for any news, asking simply, "I just want to know if he is alive."

As we approach the eighth anniversary on August 13, 2025, we urge you to remember Gao's sacrifice. Share his story on this date to raise awareness and stand in solidarity with those fighting for justice and human rights. Let us honor his words: "The only way to make the authorities not be so evil is to make them feel that they are being watched."

Urgent Prayer for China’s Persecuted Christians
  • For Gao Zhisheng: Lord, we lift up Gao Zhisheng, missing for eight years; grant him strength and reveal his whereabouts, as we pray for justice and freedom for all who suffer in silence.
  • For Jiaxing Zion Church: Heavenly Father, protect the 27 detained Christians of Jiaxing Zion Church, especially Zhan Ge; give them courage and move the global church to advocate for their release.
  • For Pastor Zhang Sen: God of justice, shield Pastor Zhang Sen and his family from persecution; embolden Xu Chao’s voice and bring swift freedom to those oppressed for their faith.
  • For Pastor John Cao: Merciful God, lift the exit ban on Pastor John Cao, reuniting him with his family in the U.S., and strengthen his heart after years of unjust separation.
  • For Xu Lin: Lord, sustain Xu Lin in his hunger strike against torture; let his sacrifice expose injustice and spark change, as we pray for his health and freedom.

“The cunning villains used our innocence, naivety and honesty; they incited and steered our virtue, purity and fervent temperaments. When we realized the actual absurdity of the situation and began to demand our democratic rights, we were subjected to unprecedented persecution and suppression. Our youth, passion, learning, idealism and joy were all sacrificed to the terrible rule of this wicked tyranny. How can this not be blood?”-  Lin Zhao
