China (International Christian Concern) – A Christian man in charge of a Christian school in China’s Xiamen, Fujian province, is facing a hefty fine for violating “the Regulations on Religious Affairs (RRA).”

According to China Aid, on December 30, Huang Yuanda received an administrative punishment notice from the Siming District Ethnic and Religious Affairs Bureau in Xiamen city.

Huang was fined RMB 100,000 (USD 15,720) for providing religious education without authorization, violating RRA Art. 41, second clause, which reads “Non-religious groups, non-religious schools, and non-religious activity sites, must not carry out religious training and must not organize citizens leaving the country to participate in religious training, meetings, activities and so forth.”

His activities must be halted. Huang has the right to appeal within three days of receiving the notice. He can also demand a public hearing within five days.

Siming district is known for going after Christians as it has already issued several administrative punishment notices to house church leaders and Christian individuals. Xunsiding Church and preacher You Guanda are the latest known victims of the crackdown against Christians.

ICC has also noticed an increase of raids against Christian schools or homeschool teachers in China in recent months, as Beijing shuns those schools that fail to adhere to the Chinese Communist Party’s ideology and the government’s patriotic education.

HOW TO PRAY: Pray for the fine against Huang to be dropped. Pray for greater freedom for Christian educators in China. Pray for Christian schools in China to effectively share the gospel.
