Iraq (International Christian Concern) – The home of a Christian shopkeeper was attacked with homemade bombs on November 28. The Christian sold alcohol in his store and has been the subject of threats in the past. His home town of Al-Amarah is home to only eight other Christian families, the rest of whom have fled to surrounding areas or emigrated in search of security.

The shopkeeper has an official license to sell alcohol in his store. Extremists targeted his home with two homemade explosive devices, thrown from a motorbike, and caused only material damage to the building. No one was killed or injured in the attack.

According to Chaldean Cardinal Louis Raphael Sako, "the attack sparked terror in the family and the Christian community” because it brought back memories of past violence. The Christian presence in the region is dwindling as Christians face persecution from many angles. Often viewed as weak, Christian’s assets and property are taken and expropriated.

HOW TO PRAY: Pray for protection for this shopkeeper and other Christian families in the region. Pray for peace throughout Iraq. Pray for an end to anti-Christian extremism in the region.
