PAKISTAN – Pakistani Christian girl beaten by family employers for refusing to convert to Islam

An 18-year-old Christian servant in Pakistan was beaten for refusing her employers’ demands to convert to Islam, according to her family and a London-based human rights group. According to the Centre for Legal Aid, Assistance and Settlement, an interdenominational aid agency, Anika Shehzad from the Ferozwala district Shakhupura in the Punjab province was beaten earlier this month, a few days after she took a job as a live-in servant. The charity reports that Shehzad comes from a poor family and accepted the job as a domestic servant for the Muslim family, which paid about $30 per month. KENYA – Finding Hope in Christ, Abandoned Children Have New Life

Nine months after seeing their mother walk out on them for converting to Christianity, seven children in the village of Dera, Kilifi county are all smiles as if this never happened. They were taken in by a sister in Christ, Mary Thoya, who has cared for them since their mother left. “We know that our mother left us because of the ridicule that comes after your family leaves Islam to follow Christ. We know that we have missed her love but we have been praying for her so that she may give her life to Christ too. INDIA – Pastor in Northern India Severely Beaten by Mob of Extremists

On August 21, Pastor Prasanna Kumar, whose name has been changed for security reasons, was attacked and brutally beaten by radical Hindu nationalists in Uttar Pradesh, India. The radicals reportedly accused Pastor Kumar of forcefully converting Hindus to Christianity and used this accusation as a justification for their assault. “The attack seemed well planned,” Pastor Kumar told International Christian Concern (ICC) in an interview. “I thought they were going to kill me.”.....Read More

NIGERIA – Pastor, 16-Year-Old Girl Among Latest 11 Christians Murdered in Nigeria

A 16-year-old girl, a father of nine children, and a church pastor were among 11 Christians killed by Muslim Fulani extremists last week in the southern part of the Kaduna state of Nigeria. Morning Star News (MSN) reports on Tuesday, the Islamic militants attacked the Unguwan Gankon village, killing 16-year-old Takama Paul and another Christian, 30-year-old Kefas Malachy Bobai, a father of three children, Luka Binniyat of the Southern Kaduna People’s Union (SOKAPU) said.....Read More

CHINA – Panelists warn China’s repression could spread

The Chinese government’s repression of Uyghur Muslims is a foretaste of the world’s future if there is not a change, human rights advocates warned Aug. 21 in a Southern Baptist-sponsored panel discussion.
