Last Wednesday over 80 joined our protest outside the Nigerian High Commission in London to mark the second anniversary of Leah Sharibu’s abduction, and hundreds more were joining us in prayer. Thank you so much!

Watch our video of the highlights of the day.

Leah was abducted from school along with 109 other girls in February 2018. She was the only Christian and is the only one still being held, because she refused to renounce her faith to gain her freedom.

Over the past two years we’ve gathered outside the High Commission many times in prayer and protest. This time we had the privilege of standing with Leah’s mother, Rebecca – her presence made the whole event incredibly powerful. We were also joined by Helen Berhane, an Eritrean gospel singer with an amazing testimony of God’s grace and deliverance. Several people there had prayed for Helen while she was in prison, and told her that seeing her at the protest had increased their faith for Leah’s release.

Rebecca said, ‘I want to thank you once again for the encouragement I receive from all of you, and plead with you to continue praying until Leah is out. I'm pleading with [the UK] government and with our Nigerian government, with President Buhari... to fulfil his promises that he has made to me personally, that he is going to rescue Leah and ensure that she is released, and not just Leah, all the others in captivity.’

Pray for Leah, and for Pastor Ton in Vietnam
Please pray for the health of Pastor Ton in Vietnam, a brave religious freedom defender jailed for 12 years. Pastor Ton has problems with his kidneys and joints. Please pray for full healing and good health.

In summary, please pray:

  • For strength and protection for Leah’s family, especially Rebecca, as she continues to campaign for her daughter’s return.
  • That Leah will return swiftly and safely to her family.
  • That Rebecca’s campaigning and our advocacy will result in real change for communities at risk in north-eastern Nigeria, and that the Spirit of peace will rest on the whole nation.
  • For full healing and good health for Pastor Ton in Vietnam.
