Hebrews 12:2-3
“Let us fix our eyes on JESUS, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of GOD. Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”
Hebrews 12:2 encourages believers to focus on JESUS as the originator and perfecter of their faith. It means to set your gaze, both literally and figuratively, on JESUS CHRIST, recognizing Him as the source and sustainer of faith, and to persevere in following Him despite challenges, suggesting a conscious effort to direct one's attention and thoughts towards JESUS. He is the central figure, the object of our faith and the one we are to follow and obey. He is the one who initiates faith and He is also the one who brings our faith to completion. The verse also references JESUS' endurance of the cross, a symbol of suffering and sacrifice, demonstrating His love and obedience to GOD. -CHRIST JESUS disregarded the shame associated with the cross, prioritizing His divine purpose over worldly honor. -“Sat down at the right hand of GOD’s throne,” signifies His exaltation and authority after His resurrection and ascension. -In essence, the verse encourages believers to look to JESUS as the ultimate example of faith, endurance, and obedience, and to follow His path, even through difficult times, trusting in His finished work at the cross.
