Genesis 1:27
“So GOD created man in His own image; He created him in the image of GOD; He created them male and female.”
This OT Bible verse authenticates human origin.
The dictionary defines “authentic” as “of undisputed origin or authorship; not a copy; but genuine.” So, when we talk about someone being authentic, we are saying that they are genuine, real, and not fake. They are true to themselves.
From a spiritual stance, as Christians, we are called to be authentic in our faith. We are called to be genuine followers of CHRIST JESUS.
What does that mean?
It means that we are to live our lives in a way that is true to who we are in CHRIST JESUS.
But what does that look like?
It starts with understanding who we are in CHRIST. We are not defined by our past, mistakes, or what others think of us. We are defined by our relationship with CHRIST. We are children of GOD, loved and accepted just as we are. In CHRIST, we are forgiven, redeemed, and made new. We are given a new identity, a new name, and a new life.-This is who we are in CHRIST. This is our authentic self. And when we live in accordance with this truth, we will be living an authentic Christian life.
Prayer:
FATHER GOD, thank You that my identity has its origin from You. Thank You that in CHRIST I discovered my true identity. I pray that Your SPIRIT will help me to always safeguard my true identity through a lifestyle that honors and pleases You for Your praise and glory, in the holy Name of JESUS, my Savior and Lord. Amen.
