Peter 1:15-16
“But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
Because GOD is holy, perfect, and pure in all of His ways, He calls and commands us to be holy. It simply means set apart for GOD’s use. The LORD desires us to live in such a way that we can be useful to HIM and for Him. The key to holiness is our union with JESUS CHRIST in His death, burial, and His resurrection. The key to holiness is to know the truth that we have died with respect to sin once for all in the death of CHRIST. Sin did not die. JESUS died for all sinners, and those who believe in CHRIST also died to sin, which was our former master. Now our master is CHRIST JESUS, who obeyed the FATHER to save us. Our obedience to CHRIST and GOD’s Word is evidence that we are living in His holiness.
The more we choose to obey CHRIST and say no to the flesh, the devil, and the allurements of this world, the more we grow in His holiness.
JESUS lived a perfect, sinless, holy and blameless life when He was on earth in the form of man's flesh. He is our prime example of holiness that we are called to follow. We are to be holy, even as He is holy. We are called to live the same life of holiness and righteousness because the FATHER has given us the HOLY SPIRIT who empowers us to be holy just as JESUS also had the HOLY SPIRIT during His time here on the earth. Praise GOD!
