Psalm 37: 4
“Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart.”
To delight in the LORD is to enjoy all the blessings that we find in Him. This delight is found in the 'secret time' that we spend in GOD’s presence.
The word translated as 'delight' comes from a Hebrew word that means soft, pliable, or moldable. It is a root word that implies pleasure and enjoyment. This is a wonderful word picture of our hearts becoming softer and more pliable as we are molded in our FATHER ‘s hands, and as we delight ourselves in the LORD’s presence, He is able to mold our hearts to become more like His. When we spend time practicing the presence of GOD, He is able to give us His desires for our lives that match His will. -In Philippians 2:13, the Apostle Paul wrote: “For it is GOD who works in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.” —Another word that we find in Psalm 37:4 that is worth noting is the word for LORD. That word is, YAHWEH in Hebrew. This is the personal name of the GOD of Israel. YAHWEH is the Hebrew name for GOD which means: I Am, The Self-Existent One. I Am. He was. He is. He always has been and always will be. He is the Self-Existent One with no beginning and no end. YAHWEH is LORD!
Psalm 37:4 is not a promise that GOD will give us whatever we want, but it is a promise that as we seek GOD with all our heart and delight in Him in His presence, then He promises to fill our heart's desires because we will desire what He wants, and our desires will match up with His will. And His will is always the best for us who are in CHRIST!
Prayer:
LORD JESUS, Your Word says in: John 15:7-8 “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my FATHER’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”
We pray that these words You’ve spoken will become real in our lives. May we desire to delight and remain in You and in Your words so that we will wish for nothing but to bear much fruit for the FATHER’s delight and His glory, in the amazing Name of JESUS. Amen.
