PSALM 61:1–4 (NLT)
1-“O GOD, listen to my cry!
Hear my prayer! 2-From the ends of the earth, I cry to You for help when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety, 3-for you are my safe refuge, a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me. 4-Let me live forever in Your sanctuary, safe beneath the shelter of Your wings!”
The word “overwhelm” means to be buried beneath a huge mass of something. The problems of life could be overwhelming. David talked of his heart being overwhelmed for which he prayed and yearned to be led to the rock that is higher than him. JESUS offers Himself to us as Savior and Lord. He knows and understands our limitations, yet He makes Himself available to all who would call on Him! CHRIST is our Towering Rock of Safety, our Safe Refuge, our strong Fortress wherein we find our comfort, security and strength!
In CHRIST, no harm can reach us. We are beyond the enemy’s firing range! If that’s the kind of benefit and blessing we have in JESUS CHRIST, wouldn’t we desire and seek to remain with Him? “Let me live forever in Your Sanctuary, safe beneath the shelter of Your wings.”
Prayer:
ABBA GOD, thank You for sending us Your Son, JESUS CHRIST. Thank You that through faith in Him, You provide the best protection from those who intend to harm us. Thank You that in CHRIST no weapon formed against us will prosper.
Thank You for the boldness, confidence and strength that comes from You whenever we need You most. In JESUS’ Great and Amazing Name!
