Iranian Christians Lose Church Buildings, Face Imprisonment
On June 4, 2026, workmen under orders from the Iranian regime bulldozed the Evangelical Church of Mashhad, Iran, without explanation. The church was roughly 80 years old but had been closed by Iranian officials for more than two decades. Still, some Iranian Christians hoped that it would one day reopen despite a 2012 government ban on Iranian churches holding any services in Farsi. “I was sitting with a brother from that church a few hours after it happened,” said a front-line worker. “He was crying.”

The Iranian government also seized the historic St. Peter Evangelical Church in Tehran, evicting 20 families who lived there.

Christians in Iran are harshly opposed, often being fired from their jobs or facing difficulty in finding jobs or renting homes. A significant number of Christians in the country, including Christian leaders and pastors, are currently imprisoned.

Our persecuted brothers and sisters, like those in Iran, boldly and faithfully follow Christ at any cost. You can stand with them and provide help to those who have suffered persecution themselves or for the families of Christians imprisoned or killed because of their witness. Your gift to help with persecution response will provide assistance in the immediate aftermath of a persecution event and in meeting the ongoing or long-term needs of persecuted Christians.
