Walking with the Persecuted Faithful: ChinaAid’s Latest Updates

Join us as we walk with the persecuted faithful.

This week: eight Christian women remain detained, one of whom is in fragile health. In Linfen, three church leaders have been safely reunited with their families. Yet across the country, private homes—once quiet spaces for Bible reading and fellowship—are now under surveillance and treated as political risks. This is the reality believers are facing right now in China.

Together we stand with the persecuted, exposing injustices and safeguarding the vulnerable. Your partnership makes this vital work possible. Thank you for joining us in this urgent mission.

Seriously Ill Christian Women Taken into Custody (Yunnan)
On April 6 in Yunnan, eight Christian women were detained in an administrative case targeting their church. Among them are three cancer patients whose detention was suspended, one undergoing medical checks, and four formally held—two for five days and two for ten. A woman over sixty, with a history of four cerebral hemorrhages, remains in fragile health; family members fear the stressful environment could endanger her lifeContinue Reading…

Linfen Church Leaders Safely Reunited with Loved Ones
In a heartwarming moment for China’s house church community, three members of Linfen Covenant Home Church—Pastor Li Jie Han Xiaodong, and Wang Qiang —returned safely to their families on April 19, 2026, after completing three-year prison terms. Arrested in 2022 during a gathering, they faced charges that reframed Christian tithing as fraud, a tactic increasingly used to pressure unregistered churches. The next day, they joyfully joined believers in Taiyuan. Continue Reading…

When Praying in Your Own House Becomes a Crime
(Hohhot, Inner Mongolia) Authorities dispersed a peaceful Christian prayer meeting held in a rented home, labeling participant “Brother B” an “internet-based illegal proselytizer” and a threat to national political security. The landlord received formal notice to evict the tenant immediately or face heavy fines of 20,000–200,000 RMB, administrative detention, and further penalties under religious affairs regulations. Private homes, once spaces for quiet Bible reading and fellowship, are now surveilled and politicized. Continue Reading...

In Guangzhou: Two Christians Accused of Illegal Business Operations
On Sunday, April 12, in Guangzhou, Mr. Zhoulin Zheng and Miss Yuesui Li were arrested. Zheng faces accusations of “illegal business operations” for mailing paper materials on Christian apologetics and creation science—content with no political ties and no profit involved. Li is linked to receiving orders for the same resources. Both are now held for 37 days of evidence-gathering, separated from their family and church community. Their story echoes the resilience of many Chinese believers who gather, study, and share hope amid tightening restrictions.

Guangzhou Sunday Morning Worship Raid
On Sunday morning, April 12, in Guangzhou, authorities raided the Eternal Foundation house church during worship. Most congregants were forced to leave, while two elders and about a half dozen believers were taken for questioning—some in their homes, others to an investigation center. Several were released that night or the next day, but the two elders received 15-day administrative detention sentences. Even in tightening spaces for worship, such resilience reminds us that hope in Christ endures.

Pray With Us:

  • Father, we pray for the 8 women detained. We plead for mercy, justice, and dignity. We pray the women are allowed to receive treatment. Strike the officials with compassion.
  • Lord, we celebrate the perseverance of Pastor Li Jie, Han Xiaodong, and Wang Qiang. Their steadfastness is a witness that reinvigorates the faith of the house churches. Bless them and their families.
  • Father, we pray for “Brother B.” He is a courageous witness and proclaimer of the Gospel. We pray his faith would not be broken but remain.
  • Jesus, we cry out for Mr. Zhoulin Zheng and Miss Yuesui Li. Have mercy on them. We pray that justice would prevail. Strengthen them even now as they are currently detained.
  • We pray for the Eternal Foundation house church. We pray their hearts would not be anxious and that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard their hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

"Experiencing suffering, we need tough bones.
Responding to faraway callings, we need tough legs.
Facing and overcoming temptations, we need tough minds.
Hearing defamations, we need tough ears.
Encountering idols, we need tough knees.
In pressing difficulties, we need a tough backbone."
