China (International Christian Concern) – Local police raided Fuyang Maizhong Reformed Church in Anhui Province on March 10. This is the second time the church has been raided in eight weeks.
One of the church’s elders, Elder Chang Shun, was one of the 18 people arrested during the raid. This is the third time Elder Chang Shun has been arrested in the last six months.
Fuyang Maizhong Reformed Church has boldly opposed efforts by local officials to force it to join the state-controlled Three-Self Patriotic Movement (TSPM), also known as the Three-Self Church. During the raid, police harassed church members engaged in a prayer meeting and confiscated cell phones and computers.
The 18 church members who were detained are set to serve sentences of up to two weeks in local jails.
HOW TO PRAY: Pray for the immediate release of all 18 church members. Praise God that they were not issued longer sentences. Pray for protection for independent churches across China. Praise God for the courage and conviction of this small church to stand for Christ in the middle of Communist China.
