Gaza (International Christian Concern) –  The Israeli officials began a “second phase” of their war on Hamas in the Gaza Strip, including ground operations. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) has been bombarding the strip since Hamas’ October 7 terrorist attack on Israel that killed 1,400 Israelis and took over 200 hostages. The Gaza Health Ministry says there have been more than 8,000 killed in Gaza since the beginning of the war, as the UN warns of “catastrophic humanitarian conditions.”

Over the past few days, communication services have been out in the Gaza Strip due to the intensity of Israeli bombardments. Though communication has been limited, Gaza’s Christians are still sheltering in two churches in north Gaza, with no further casualties reported beyond the airstrike that hit Gaza’s Greek Orthodox church last week, killing at least 19 Christians, including six children.

International Christian Concern continues to stay in contact with persecuted Christians caught in the crossfire of this developing conflict as communication networks allow. As the IDF ground invasion progresses, Gaza’s Christian community must be protected.

HOW TO PRAY: Pray for this conflict to end quickly and peacefully. Pray for protection for all those caught in the crossfire. Pray for the region’s Christian community to reflect the love of Christ in this dark time.
