Ghana (International Christian Concern) – Nine people were killed in a violent attack in northern Ghana near the border of Burkina Faso. There has been an uptick in Islamic extremism in the region with many claiming that Burkina Faso is one of the most dangerous places to be a Christian.

Ghana, however, is mostly stable with rare cases of persecution. Islamic extremists run rampant throughout the Sahel, the region of countries just north of Ghana, including jihadists who frequently cross borders into nations including Côte d’Ivoire and Togo.

As instability in Burkina Faso and the Sahel continues, the breadth of terrorism will likely increase as demonstrated by the recent incident in Ghana. Witnesses say the attackers fired into two vehicles carrying traders on their way to the market. Most of the nine victims were women.

Join International Christian Concern (ICC) in praying for the families of the victims, and for stability in the region as it experiences an increase in violence and persecution.

HOW TO PRAY: Pray for extremism to stay outside of the borders of Ghana. Pray for the gospel to spread throughout the Sahel region. Pray for peace for those who lost loved ones in this attack.
