In Sanhe, a county-level city administered by the Langfang prefecture-level city in Hebei province, a Christian called Yang Yingle had his water and electricity cut off. It was not a technical failure but a punishment and a warning.

What crime did Yang commit? On June 1, some elderly friends gathered in his home to pray and read the Bible. Yang himself was not at home when the police came, interrogated the elderly, and took his religious books and his computer. The computer was later given back to Yang, but the books were confiscated.

Water and electricity were restored the next day after Yang, who had at home a sick wife and child went through all sort of problems.

It is not the first time that cutting water and electricity is used by the CCP authorities to terrorize and blackmail Christians.

Yang was told that illegal religious gatherings are prohibited and that if such incidents happen again in his house, he will have again his electricity and water cut off and may also face more serious consequences.
