CSW is delighted to announce the appointment of Kori Porter as CEO of CSW-USA, supporting CSW’s advocacy for freedom of religion or belief and spearheading outreach with churches, donors and the wider public in the United States.
Porter served as campus minister on the campus of Princeton University and completed an M.A. in Theological Studies at Princeton Theological Seminary. She is currently on the executive leadership team of the AND Campaign, a coalition that advocates for Christians to support political policies that align with biblical teaching, not partisan loyalties.
Porter said, “I’m excited to lead CSW-USA at this pivotal moment. As the world tackles the pandemic and worsening inequalities and rights violations, CSW’s advocacy for the right to freedom of religion or belief is needed more than ever. I would like CSW-USA to deepen domestic understanding of this fundamental right and build on CSW’s decades of experience in research and advocacy to promote and uphold it both domestically and abroad. My passion lies in tackling injustice and seeking, by God’s wisdom and grace, to clear the obstacles for people to live free from persecution. My vision for CSW-USA is for it to become a strategic hub for people in the US who want to champion freedom of religion or belief and to stand with those for whom it is not yet a reality.”
CSW’s Founder President Mervyn Thomas said, “Throughout her life, Kori has shown she has a heart and passion for justice. I am proud and very excited to have her leading CSW-USA at this pressing moment in time. I know she will steer the organization with great energy and wisdom, exhibiting the conviction that as Christians, we should champion freedom of religion or belief for people of all religions and beliefs. I thank God for Kori and pray for continued guidance as we work together to put an end to religious freedom violations around the world.”
Porter is compelled by her Christian faith to stand with and advocate on behalf of those harmed by injustice. As CEO of CSW-USA, her vision is to promote and uphold freedom of religion or belief for all, both domestically and abroad.
Born and raised in Oxford, Mississippi, Porter graduated from the University of Mississippi, where she studied Public Policy, Sociology, and Religion to earn a BA in Liberal Studies. She completed her MA in Theological Studies with an emphasis in Religion and Society from Princeton Theological Seminary. Porter previously served as campus minister at Princeton University and as assistant campus ministry director at University Reformed Church in East Lansing, Michigan. She is on the executive leadership team of the AND Campaign, a coalition that advocates for Christians to support political policies that align with biblical teaching, not partisan loyalties. Her writing has been published in the anthology, His Testimonies, My Heritage: Women of Color on the Word of God and the AND Campaign’s publication, A New Narrative on Abortion: Pro-Woman and Pro-Child
