Turkey (Mid. East Concern)
As the Turkish Armenian Apostolic Church attempts to elect new leadership, the government stepped in and stalled the process. Because of the fact that this church is an officially recognized church in Turkey, there is a level of government control they must operate under. Authorities have not granted the church permission for a council to meet to elect a new leader, adding to past “bureaucratic difficulties with the Christian minority.” Some districts have required entire churches to be shut down.
- Pray for this church as it is subject to government involvement as they await new leadership.
- Pray for churches in Turkey to be able to function and operate even with government oversight.
- Pray for the government to not overstep its boundaries.
