Israel (International Christian Concern) – On June 28th, Israeli broadcasting regulators announced their order that U.K.-based evangelical Christian media company GOD TV be taken off the air. The Cable Satellite Broadcasting Council was considering this since May, saying the company hid the missionary agenda behind their Shelanu Hebrew-language channel. Following the regulators’ announcement, Shelanu’s satellite provider dropped the channel completely.

Media shared a statement by Asher Biton, chairman of the Cable and Satellite Broadcasting Council, which said, “Our examination shows that this is a channel that seeks to appeal to Jews with the Gospel of Jesus, as opposed to the way the channel was presented in the first place as intended for the Christian population.”

Ron Cantor, Shelanu’s Israeli spokesman, stated the channel’s plans to sue Biton if no public apology or clarification on the issue is given. Shelanu claims that it stated its intentions explicitly when applying for the broadcasting license and never attempted to hide its goal of broadcasting to the broader Israeli community, not just Christians.

HOW TO PRAY: Pray for GOD TV to continue sharing the Good News. Pray for revival to sweep across the Middle East. Pray for less censorship of Christian media programs around the world.
