Source: www.persecution.net Date: July 21, 2010 ICC has learned that a Moroccan Christian named Jamaa Ait Bakrim has been imprisoned for his faith. Jamaa has been serving five years in the largest prison in Morocco for trumped up charges. Until now his case has largely been hidden from outside media. In order to advocate for Jamaa and other Christian prisoners, ICC is launching a prisoner focus page where we can post more details and pictures. See the new site at: www.persecution.org/prisonerfocus/ Jamaa became a Christian in the 1990's while travelling through Europe. When he returned to Morocco he was ostracized and later imprisoned for refusing to stop talking about his faith. He served over a year in prison. In 2005 he was again tried and found guilty of "proseytization." The judge condemned Jamaa to 15 years in prison, stating, “the fact that Jamaa denies accusations of proselytization is inconsistent with the confession during which he proclaimed he was a son of Christ and he wanted Moroccans to become Christians…” Jamaa is currently serving out this sentence, and is located in Prison Centrale of Kenitra, Morocco. Please pray: - That Jamaa is released. His existence has been hidden from the outside world and we must hold him up and pray for his courage. - That the hearts of Moroccan leaders change toward Christians, and they stop the persecution that has led to the recent expulsion of 100 Christian foreigners. - For the Moroccan church to withstand the increasing pressure from the government and stand out as an example of endurance and grace.
