Wenzhou Holds Monthly Prayer for Bishop under Gov’t Surveillance

An underground bishop in China, Bishop Peter Shao Zhumin, has been under government watch since being detained on May 18. Bishop Shao has been detained several times previously and last appeared at a hospital in September. According to reports, authorities tried to convince him to legally agree to four conditions that would grant him government recognition. However, at present, the bishop has not complied. In response, the local Christian community has set up monthly prayer meetings on his behalf.
